Autumn Leaves

We like it when the leaves change colour and fall to the ground. Look at all the leaves outside Room 4. We have loved playing in them. We have walked in them and jumped in them too.

The leaves are falling down from the tree.

I love my Mum

On Sunday it will be Mother's Day in New Zealand. Earlier in the week we wrote about some of the great things our Mums do for us and why we love them.
Anna published our writing onto a whiteboard and then took a photo of us.
We have made a frame for a copy of our photos to go in so we can give it to our Mums.
Have a look at our photopeach -

Imagine 100

A game we like to play in Room 4 is called Imagine 100. We try to use our imagination and think about something. Then we think about what 100 of those things would be like.
After playing this game for a little while we wrote some of our favourite 100 ideas. We were quite excited because we learnt to write 100.
Here is a look at some of our writing.
(If you click on the photo you will be able to see our writing)

Room 4 knows Anna is afraid of mice so sometimes they think it is very funny to imagine 100 mice and laugh about what Anna would do!
What can you imagine 100 of?

Feijoa

Lizzie brought some delicious feijoas to share with Room 4.
Look how many there were.
We held the feijoa so we could think about how it felt, looked and smelt.
Then Anna cut the feijoa in half for us so we could eat it.
We did some great brainstorming about our delicious feijoas.

Baking

Today we made a feijoa cake. We got the feijoas from the Kitchen Garden at school.

We cut the feijoas in half and scooped out the insides with a teaspoon.

Next we mashed a banana. This bowl has 2 eggs, 1 cup of milk, 1/2 cup of brown sugar, 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda and 1 mashed banana.
This is what it looked like after we mixed it.
Next we mixed it with 2 1/2 cups of flour and 2 teaspoons of baking powder.
Finally we mixed in 1 1/2 cups of feijoas. The mixture smelt delicious.

We poured the mixture into a cake tin. The baking paper stops the cake sticking to the cake tin.

We cooked it in the oven at 180C for about an hour.

The best bit was eating the cake in the sun outside.
Delicious!

Our Mihi

We have been learning how to introduce ourselves to each other. We have also learnt how to introduce ourselves in maaori by learning our mihi.
You can listen to Abshir, Ben, Lizzie, Kayden, Mia, Xzavier and Subair say their mihi on this vimeo.
