We are 5

We are all 5 years old in our class.
We love being 5.

Anna asked what we thought was cool about being 5.
We loved watching what everyone in our class said.
Have a look at our vimeo to find out what we think.

An Olympic Parcel

Room 4 got a great surprise this morning.
We got a parcel from Jo who is at the Olympics and Paralympics with the Australian team.
Look what was inside.....
Olympic Athlete LEGO

Take a look at our photopeach so you can see how we built our Olympic athletes.

Thank you Jo for sending us lego all the way from the Olympics in London.
We hope you will be very pleased to see the boxer we have put aside for you.
We have had lots of ideas of ways we can use our Olympic athletes to help us with our learning.

Cross Country

Take a look at our great running in the Cross Country.

Cross Country from Ham East on Vimeo.
After our fabulous running we had a medal ceremony in our class. We saw some medal ceremonies when we watched the Olympics. We had made medals using salt dough. Anna hung them around our necks. Then we all sang the national anthem.

We are so proud of our great running.
Thank you to Ms O'Neil and Room 10 for being such great helpers at the Cross Country.

Cross Country

We have been training for the Cross Country.
Today we went on the course with Room 5. We have to run around Putikitiki two times.
We found out it was quite a long way.
Our School Cross Country is on Wednesday at 11am.

Anna and Whaea Kat gave us some running tips.
You have to run around the cones.
If you feel like you have to walk, walk fast so you can start running again.
Try your best.
Whaea Kat high fived us when we finished our run.

Do you have any other Cross Country running tips for us?

Blogging Friends

Room 4 is excited because we have found a new blog to be friends with.
E6 is a class of 5 year olds in Lower Hutt.

They had a visit from Captain Cashtastic just like us.
We had a look at their blog and loved all their great posts.
We think E6 has a lot of fun learning together.

Money Money Money

We had a visit from Brodie who works at ASB. He was so funny. He asked us a lot of questions and we all wanted to answer.

Captain Cashtastic talked to us about coins and notes. We also learnt about eftpos cards and how you can only spend the money you have at the bank.
First you need to spend your money on your needs. Mia says needs are things to keep you healthy. Needs are - Water, Food, and Shelter.
Wants are things you wait for.
"Speed for your Needs and Wait for your Wants"
We really liked Captain Cashtastic's cape!

What would you like to buy with your money?

The Olympics

Room 4 has loved watching the Olympics.
We have liked watching the swimming, hockey, rowing and equestrian. We love watching the horses jump. We are great at clapping and cheering for the athletes.

Anna's friend Jo is at the Olympics. She sent us a photo of her Olympic Pass. We made our own Olympic Pass. Maybe one day we will really get to go to the Olympics.
We went and showed other classes around the school our Olympic Passes.
Mrs Bobsien tested our barcodes for us. They worked!
