Matariki

We have been celebrating Matariki.
We drew pictures in Kidpix of what we think the 7 stars of Matariki might look like in the sky.

We talked about our learning. We thought about all the things we were good at. We also drew the things we are learning to do and want to work on.

We have also planted our kowhai seedlings into bigger pots so they can grow bigger. We are preparing for later in the year when we can plant them in the school gardens.

New Blogs

After looking at the form of who looks at our blog we have found a lot of cool new blogs.
We thought we would share them with you. If you click on the photo of the blog title it will link you to their blog.
Here are the other primary school blogs.

This blog belongs to Room 5 from Nelson. They are little bit older than us. They have lots of photos and movies showing their learning.

This class is from Wanaka. Recently they have been doing experiments with eggs. They love reading and so do we.

This class is Room 2 from Burnside Primary School in Christchurch. They are the same age as us. We like seeing all the photos of their learning.

This blog is Room 20 at Point England School in Auckland. They like cooking and so do we.

Team Two is from Hutt Central School in Lower Hutt. They have photos and movies to share their learning. Recently they had a lot of rain and came up with some excellent words to describe the weather.

This blog is from S23K which is in Australia. We like looking at their artwork and the photos of their learning.

Six Team is from Mahora School in Hastings. They have lots of photos. At their school they have to wear a uniform.

Stickers for Kenya

Yesterday Anna gave us some stickers. We felt so happy to get a treat. We love getting treats.
Anna told us about some girls in Kenya. They are orphans. They don't have a mum or a dad to look after them. They live in an orphanage called Rafiki Mwema. People look after them there. They have beds, clothes, food, toilets, hair ties and people to care for them.

We think that just like us they would love some treats. Last year, Room 5 had a seed shop and earnt some money. There is still $50 left. Room 5 has decided to buy some stickers for the girls at Rafiki Mwema with our money. We are also going to write them some letters to make them feel happy too.
We used Google Earth to find out where Kenya is. Kenya is a long way from New Zealand.
We tried to find out how much it would cost to fly from New Zealand to Kenya. It would cost over $3000 for one person. So it would be cheaper to send the stickers by mail.

A writing challenge

Today Anna set us a writing challenge.
We needed to write interesting sentences about these blocks.
You had to look carefully at the blocks and then form a sentence about them.

I can see a baby. The fire is warming the boy up.

I can see a boy by the fire. I can see a blue chair.

Jawad's Photos

We went on a walk around our school to look at our environment.
There are so many different trees at our school.

Jawad took these photos of the trees around our school.
We think Jawad did a great job.
Take a look at the slideshow of his photos.

Room 5 wants to know who looks at our blog.

Kowhai Trees

Something amazing has happened to our kowhai seeds.
They have started to grow.
We had a good look at them and you can see them in this photo.

We went outside and found a big Kowhai tree.
We wonder if our little kowhai seedlings will grow this big.
